Epidac 1 Zinc Rich Primer

A epoxy-ester/meallic zinc coating that is typically used as a single-pack 'sacrificial' primer for steel. Also used a 'repair' primer for damaged galvanised steel. Conforms to BS:4652 Part 1.

Dry Film Thickness: Typical 50 microns / Range 30-50 microns
Theoretical Coverage: 8.8m² per litre at 50 microns dry film thickness
Drying Time At 20°C:
Touch Dry: 30 minutes
Film Dry: 2 hours
Overcoat: When 'firm' dry or after 48 hours
(will vary with temperature, air movements, etc.)
V.O.C.: 480 grams/litre
Packaging: 5 litre containers
Shelf Life: 2 years or longer in unopened containers when stored under cover in good storage conditions.
Storage: Under cover with temperature range of 5°C to 32°C.
Surface Preparation: Steel should be abrasive blast to ISO 8501-1 SA2.5 to give optimum adhesion and anti-corrosion properties.
If only manul cleaning possible, remove all loose millscale, rust, etc. using a power wire brush and decrease with Dacrylate Thinner R5.
Application: Apply by brush or spray. Up to 10% of Dacrylate Thinner R5 may be added to achieve optimum spray characteristics..
Overcoating: When overcoating with coatings based on mild solents (ie. white spirit), the primer need only be firm dry (ie. approximately 2 hours) or any time thereafter. For fast drying finishing coats based on stronger 'aromatic' solvents, the primer should be overcoated when firm dry (and for up to 4 hours) or after 48 hours.
