A vinyl acrylic co-polymer coating typically used as a water thinnable primer/undercoat for wood, hardboard, MDF, chipboard, etc., for use with automatic vacuum coaters, with or without infra-red force drying. Maybe overcoated with emulsion or solvent-based decorative paints. Excellent opacity in single coat. Fast drying, supplied read for use.

Appearance Of Dried Film: Matt
Dry Film Thickness: Typical 10 microns / Range 6-15 microns
Application Rate: 11m² per litre depending on porosity and texture of surface
Drying Time At 20°C:
Touch Dry: 20 minutes
Film Dry: 2-3 hours
Overcoat: 3 hours with water-based decorative paints
Drying times of water-based paints will vary widely depending upon humidity, air-movement, ventiliation, etc.
(will vary with temperature, air movements, etc.)
Packaging: 20 litre pails and 1000 litre IBC
Shelf Life: 1 year in unopened containers, when stored under cover in good storage conditions.
Storage: Under cover with temperature range of 5°C to 32°C. Protect from frost.
Surface Preparation: Ensure surface is clean and dry.
Treatment of knots: Water-based wood primers are essentially self-knotting. The fully dried Acrylacote Primer is unaffected by the resinous material in the knots (unlike oil-based primers which allow the resins in the timber to permeate through the film).
Timber which is heavily knotted should be spot-primed with the Acrylacote in the knotted areas and allowed to dry for at least 2 hours before overall painting.
Application: Automatic vacuum timber coater (can be applied by brush or spray)
Clean-up: Clean equipment immediately with water.
