A water-borne acrylic coating for use as a primer for steel and similar substrates. Excellent adhesion and durability with rust-inhibitive properties. 'Environmentally Friendly'.

Typically applied to Rolling Stock and Rail components.

Appearance Of Dried Film: Low sheen
Volume Solids: 38% (may vary with colour)
Dry Film Thickness: Typical 50 microns / Range 35-70 microns
Theoretical Coverage: 7.6m² per litre at 50 microns dry film thickness
Drying Time At 20°C:
Touch Dry: 20 minutes
Film Dry: 1-2 hours
Overcoat: 4 hours with water-borne finishes
(will vary with temperature, air movements, etc.)
Note: To achieve the above drying times the paint film must be exposed to adequate air movement with good ventilation
Packaging: 10 litre plastic containers
Shelf Life: 2 years or longer in unopened containers when stored under cover in good storage conditions.
Storage: Under cover with temperature range of 5°C to 32°C.
Surface Preparation: Steel: Preferred method is abrasive blast to BS:4232 Second Quality.
Manual cleaning: Chip, scrape and power wire-brush to remove all loose millscale, rust and other surface contaminants. Degrease with Dacrylate Thinner R5.
Application Conditions: Temperature: Minimum 5°C - preferably >10°C.
Humidity: Less than 80% - drying times at high humidity levels will be considerably extended.
Application: Airless spray: As supplied.
Brush: Small areas and sections may be brush painted. Care must be taken to achieve appropriate film thickness.
Conventional spray: May require addition of up to 10% water to achieve optimum spray characteristics.
Overcoating: Dacqucote Primer finishes can be over-coated with a wide range of water-borne finishes. N.B.: Please consult the Dacrylate Technical Department for over-coating with solvent-borne finishes.
Clean-up: Note: Spray equipment in contact with Dacqucote should be of stainless steel to avoid rusting of spray tips, nozzles, etc.
Dacquacote should not be allowed to dry in application equipment. Brushes and spray equipment must be cleaned immediately after use with clean water.
